Solar Panels are designed to bear strong weather conditions as all their components are designed to survive the weather conditions that the solar panel might face that can include rain, harsh sunlight, hail, high humidity and others. However these conditions still have an effect on the solar panel and if the issues they cause aren’t resolved then it might lead to the solar panel not producing the same energy or even worse.
India has 3 major seasons which bring about their own weather conditions and this will be in relation to the climate and weather of Maharashtra. Maharashtra goes through the same seasons as well. The Summer which is from April to June, the Monsoon which is from July to September and the Winter from October to March. The temperature varies highly from season to season. The highest is 42℃ and the lowest is 12℃, this can vary from place to place.
How does weather affect the Solar Panel?
1. Summer
The Summer is the perfect weather for the solar panel, even though high temperatures can affect the solar panel. Fortunately modern solar panels can bear about 66℃ of temperature without overheating and the highest temperature that has been recorded in Maharashtra is Chandrapur with 46℃ and it is usually at 43℃. However high humidity can affect the solar panel as if there are any cracks on the solar panel some small water droplets can form on the solar panel which can lead to some problems so it is advised to check the solar panel once every week or so.
2. Monsoon
Maharashtra sees a lot of rainfall. According to an Indian Meteorological Department report there has been a rise in the number of Heavy (64.5-115.5mm), Very heavy (115.6-204.4 mm) and extremely heavy (more than 204.4 mm) rainfall. The rainfall makes it so that the Solar Panel won’t function at its regular rate but this won’t damage the solar panel due to its durability. However hailstorms should be the main concern as hail can damage the glass that covers the solar panel. So after a solar panel takes place it is advised to check the solar panel for some issues and call the solar contractor if there is any.
3. Winter
Winter in Maharashtra is relatively warmer when compared to other parts of India. The temperature can range from 12℃ to 34℃, the lowest temperatures recorded were 7℃ to 8℃ in a few towns in Maharashtra. Fortunately solar panels aren’t damaged in the winter, however one concern might be the sudden change in temperature might cause the glass to expand and contract too quickly. If you see any cracks then it is advised to check the panel and if you see any cracks then contact your solar system contractor or a reputed solar expert to check the system.
